The fox was drying cereal, wheat or tef{footnote}A grain grown in the highlands of Ethiopia.{/footnote} or sorghum, in front of her den and the crow was coming and pecking it. When the fox tried to catch the crow it flew up.
One day the fox met the crow walking in the road and he caught it.
The fox said, “Why do you torment me by eating my food?”
The crow said, “You can do what you like, but never throw me into the bushes.”
So the fox thinks, “If I throw it into the bushes, it will die,” and he threw it and the crow flew away.
The crow said, “You fool! I have cheated you!”

አንዲት ቀበሮ ደጇ ላይ ጥራጥሬዎች፣ ስንዴ፣ ጤፍ{footnote}ጤፍ በኢትዮጵያ ደጋማ ስፍራዎች የሚበቅል ሰብል ነው፡፡{/footnote} ወይም ማሽላ አስጥታ ስታደርቅ አንድ ቁራ መጥቶ ይለቅምባት ጀመር፡፡ ቀበሮዋም ቁራውን ልትይዘው ብትሞክር እየበረረ ያመልጣታል፡፡
ታዲያ ከእለታት አንድ ቀን ቁራው በአንድ ጉዳና ላይ ሲራመድ አግኝታው ቀበሮዋ ከያዘችው በኋላ “እህሌን እየበላህ የምታስቸግረኝ ለምንድነው?” አለችው፡፡
ቁራውም “የፈለግሺውን ነገር ልታደርጊኝ ትችያለሽ፡፡ ነገር ግን እባክሽ ወደ ቁጥቋጦው ውስጥ አትወርውሪኝ፡፡” አላት፡፡
ቀበሮዋም “ቁጥቋጦው ውስጥ ብወረውረው ይሞታል፡፡” ብላ ስትወረውረው ቁራው በርሮ ሄደ፡፡
ከበረረም በኋላ “አንቺ ጅል! አታለልኩሽ!” አላት፡፡
